Sophia turns 3!

Can't believe it, but Sophia turned 3 on Sunday. My how time flies. It was a happy, crazy, hectic weekend with parties, family and more parties. Jesse's sister Elizabeth took the train from Portland and stayed with us through the weekend. It was a lot of fun. We couldn't have asked for a better day for her birthday. It was gorgeous and we celebrated at Shoreview Park by our house with close friends and family. Everyone brought their bikes and scooters, we played frisbee, ate cake and the kids rolled down the big hill. We missed our families in Sedona, Portland and Austin. We wish you could have been here to celebrate with us. Sophia is a very lucky little girl.

Spray Park

What a gorgeous weekend. This Sunday we ventured up to Mt Rainier to hike to Spray Park, an alpine meadow, in the foothills of Mt Rainier. It was a gorgeous day and we were feeling like 6 miles was a good hike to do with a 3 yr old. ;-)It wasn't too bad. Sophia actually walked most of it, off and on, and napped for a hour in between. The hike was deceivingly flat at first and then BAM! all switchbacks and uphill to the top. But the hard work was worth it. Check out the amazing shots Jesse took of Rainier, the family and Mowich Lake. The pictures are gorgeous but they don't do justice to being there in person. Definitely someplace to go again and again. Enjoy!

Our little ballerina....

Sophia is really digging her new school. I just went to the parent open house this evening and let me tell you, she is one busy kid. Besides painting, napping and being a 2 and 1/2 yr old, she is taking Spanish every Friday, computer everyday, music on Thursdays and YOGA starting next month. I think I am going to quit my job and go back to preschool, she has a pretty exciting day. In addition to her school day, we have signed her up for creative dance (ballet) on Mondays. She LOVES this class and it is the cutest thing we have ever seen. 7 little blonde girls in black leotards, ponytails, tights and ballet shoes. Head exploding from cuteness now! I was able to grab a photo of Sophia this Monday right before we headed out to class. Enjoy the cuteness.

Sophia's First Day at Preschool

It has been an exciting morning. Sophia started her first day of preschool. She was cool as a cucumber as her parents fussed over her and made sure everything was just right for her first day. There were no tears, on either side, Jesse did get a little choked up when he saw her cubby. "Sophia L." Sniff-sniff. She jumped right in with her new classmates and couldn't wait to start her day.

International Kite Festival-Long Beach, WA

We had a grand adventure yesterday. We made our way down to the coast for the International Kite Festival in Long Beach, WA. It was truly a sight. Over 1,000 kites in the air at the same time. Most of them were for show, but others were being judged for speed, precision and design. In addition to the kite festival, we were able to connect with one of Jesse's old friends from high school, Indus, who lives in Long Beach. Fun was had by all. Enjoy the fantastic shots Jesse took.

Blueberries

Hello all. Today was a funfilled day with our friends Ms. Erin and her son, Lucas. We drove out to Snohomish farm country and went blueberry picking. It was a bumper crop this year. Sophia and Lucas ate their weight in blueberries, I don't think one even went in their buckets. Jesse and I walked away with a haul and for those who come to visit be prepared for all sorts of blueberry delicacies. I got some great shots of the kiddos.

During the renovation, I found an old hat of mine from Disney World circa 1978. I was the same age Sophia is now when my parents, my brother and I made the trip. Sophia loves the hat and I couldn't keep it off her head. I got a kick out of these photos Jesse took. Enjoy.

STP

Check out the video and pics from the STP bike adventure with Roger. We completed 202 miles from Seattle to Portland. 31 miles of hills, rain, scorching sun and one sore butt (I cannot speak for Roger "Iron Hiney" Langdon). It was hard, but we had lots of fun.
